Quotes:

“Collège Boréal is pleased to have established this partnership with a prestigious organization such as Extendicare. It is an indication of a high degree of confidence in the quality and professionalism of our graduates. Through proactive partnerships like this one, solutions can be found to alleviate the shortage of personal support workers in our northern communities.”

Daniel Giroux, President of Collège Boréal

“We are very proud of our new partnership with Collège Boréal. Northern Ontario is facing a shortage of personal support workers, so it is vital for us to pursue new and innovative ideas that can help a new generation of skilled professionals to embark on an exciting career here in Timmins.”

Kelly Roy, Administrator, Extendicare

“Anywhere from 75 to 90% of direct care in long-term care facilities is provided by personal support workers, whether it’s physical care, help with meals, personal hygiene, dressing, as well as emotional care and social interactions. With those statistics in mind, it’s quite obvious that the shortage of these vitally important professionals has a dramatic impact.”

Veldret Léonard-Jetté, Professor and Coordinator of the PSW program, Collège Boréal
